Gameplay FAQs: Combat FAQ

There are two major combat systems inside of The Matrix Online, both must be practiced and mastered to survive. When you enguage opponents at close-range, or with hand-to-hand combat, this form of fighting is governed by the Interlock system. Attacking with rifles, programs, and other long-range weapons uses the Free-Ranged combat system.

Can I attack somebody without going into close combat?

Yes, you can do what’s called a free-fire attack. Free-fire attacks are done by targeting an enemy and clicking either a hacker special attack or a weapon on your hotbar. After you attack there will be a delay timer before you can use that attack ro weapon again.

How to I target myself for abilities like Restore Health?

Pressing the ‘U’ key selects your character. After you select yourself you just launch the code they same way you would if you were using it on a teammate.

What are status effects?

Status effects are temporary negative effects which are the result of certain combat tactics or abilities. The most common are those which can happen sometimes from being hit by the 3 major tactics

  • Power attacks can cause a target to become staggered.
  • Speed attacks can cause a target to become dazed.
  • Throw attacks can cause a target to become off-balance.
How do I get rid of status effects?

There are many ways to get rid of status effects, but the simplest one is just to wait. All status effects are time base, but a successful block maneuver has a good chance of removing a single status effect before it’s timer runs out.
