The Matrix Online contains a very robust mission system designed for maximum
depth and re-playability. Players can take missions from the three main organizations,
the Machines, Exiles, and Zion. Performing missions is also the primary way
a player can interact with the ongoing storyline of The Matrix Online.
How do I start a mission? |
Open your missions panel and talk to the controller. If you want to go through
a different controller go to the contacts section of the panel and choose another
controller.
Why should I do missions? |
Missions are one of the primary sources of experience, information, and codes
in the game. Though there is no reason a player could not rise through the
ranks of the game without ever doing a mission, they would be missing out on
a lot of opportunities for good loot. Also, missions are the only way to gain
favor with an organizations and also the primary way of playing a part in the
Matrix saga.
How do I get a ‘story’ mission? |
In order to start getting story missions, you need to get though the initial
set of missions from Zion. Essentially, you have to prove yourself before any
of the organizations will trust you with important missions. After you get
past that initial batch of missions you will get a variety of missions, some
of which will advance you in your place in the current segment of the story.
What are neighborhood missions? |
Throughout the city there are exiles that are in a position to have redpills
do their work for them; many of those exiles are also in a position to reward
anybody who helps them well. If you find one of these exiles you will be able
to talk to them and get missions directly from them rather than through your
controller.
How do missions affect reputation? |
Any mission you take has a chance of improving your reputation with the organization
which gave out the mission. If you are successful in your goals you very well
might see a rise in your reputation after the completion of the mission. Many
missions involve hampering the efforts of another organization. Any time you
take a mission which impacts another organization in a negative way you can
expect to see your reputation fall with that organization.
