GameSpy has just published an interview with three of the Lead Artists from
The Matrix Online. The primary focus of the interview is the various challenges of creating an MMO world which is a convincing Matrix experience.
Andy Hoyos: The other aspect of production that was to prove
a bit daunting was the issue of creating a kind of "machine controlled reality" as seen in the films that was "livable" and
enjoyable for extended periods of time. Gritty but not grim has been my MxO
motto. It's one thing to go to a theater and be a part of this kind of experience
for a couple of hours and quite another to inhabit such a world hours -- days
-- weeks and, dare I say it, months on end!
