These are the newest changes and enhancements to The Matrix Online! Below you will find a list of game balancing, bug fixes, and many new additions to the Live version of the Beta Test. This patch will update The Matrix Online client to 7.2016

Abilities and Discipline Changes

  • Ability: Ability description text has been reviewed, edited, and updated.
  • Ability: Ability use feedback messages have been reviewed, edited, and updated.
  • Ability: Disable Security Devices is now required to successfully disable a security device.
  • Ability: Failed Write Code attempts now use up bits and fragments.
  • Ability: Player will receive a message when attempting to add an upgrade to a player or simulacrum with a full upgrade buffer.
  • Ability: Ability effects have been reviewed and improved.
  • Ability: Decompiling items has a new interface.
  • Ability: Simulacra now cancel if the Coder unloads the Ability that generated it.
  • Ability: Using Destroy Health on a target with less than 500 hit points no longer causes the target's health to wrap around.
  • Ability: Abilities are now listed in the correct categories in the Write Code window.
  • Ability: Smoke Bomb now both blinds the target and adds Improved Invisibility to the character launching it.
  • Ability: Characters using Concealment can now move, but doing so ends the effect.
  • Ability: Recall Team Member no longer requires line of sight on the target.
  • Ability: Abilities in the same family now share a timer.
  • Ability: Incorrect links on the Ability Tree window have been fixed.
  • Ability: Some Ability icons have been updated.
  • Ability: Decompile item recipes no longer show in the Write Code window before it is learned.
  • Ability: Hyper-Sprint now gives a speed bonus of +25%.
  • Ability: Hyper-Speed now gives a speed bonus of +1.25% per Ability level.
  • Ability: Close Combat Training now gives a bonus to both melee and ranged damage.
  • Ability: Ranged Damage Resitance is now displayed as a percentage.
  • Ability: Precise Blows can't be activated if Energized Attacks are already activated, and visa versa.
  • Ability: Ability tool tips have been reviewed and updated.
  • Ability: Bash now requires the target to be staggered.
  • Ability: Abilities that fall in the same family have been renamed.
  • Ability: Daemon Boost 2.0 damage bonuses have been increased.
  • Ability: Coder Ability buffer costs have been adjusted.
  • Ability: Ability prerequisites have been reviewed and updated.
  • Ability: A speed increase bug with state-effects generating Ability has been fixed.
  • Ability: A bug preventing players from using Abilities after jacking in has been fixed.
  • Ability: Abilities are now listed in the correct categories in Vendor windows.
  • Ability: Kung Fu Mastery is now Kung Fu Proficiency.
  • Ability: Aikido Mastery is now Aikido Prowess.

 

Artificial Intelligence Systems

  • AI: NPCs will now Free Fire on players climbing pipes or ladders, causing them to fall off if they take damage.
  • AI: Shift + Right Click on a simulacrum icon below the hotbar will dismiss the simulacrum.
  • AI: NPCs with ranged weapons will now use them if unable to Interlock a player for some reason.

 

Player and Non-Player Character Changes

  • Character: A character's maximum possible Inner Strength can no longer be less than 25.
  • Character: Many PC and NPC texture issues have been resolved.
  • Character: Characters with more than maximum memory cost will have their Abilities cleared when launching the game.
  • Character: Damage resistance bug has been fixed.
  • Character: Club-specific NPCs have been added.
  • Character: NPC names have been reviewed and updated.
  • Character: Hardline NPCs have new animations and icons.
  • Character: The extra "Argon" neighborhood contact has been removed.
  • Character: The distance PCs stop from Vendors has been adjusted.
  • Character: Agent Gray can now appear as an NPC.

 

Game Balancing and Performance

  • Game_Balance: NPC category is now displayed by chevrons in the target window.
  • Game_Balance: Some items in the wrong loot tables have been changed.
  • Game_Balance: Group mission $Information rewards have been rebalanced.
  • Game_Balance: Combat penalty is now set to -80% Inner Strength regeneration.
  • Game_Balance: Some mission NPCs that were too tough are now scaling to mission-team level correctly.
  • Game_Balance: Awakened now has no memory cost.
  • Game_Balance: Focus bonuses to Combat Tactics have been rebalanced.
  • Game_performance: More performance optimizations have been made.
  • Game_performance: Server and client performance have been improved.

 

General Game Changes

  • Dialogue: Dialogue text has been reviewed, edited, and updated.
  • Emote: Some male mood animation issues have been fixed.
  • Emote: Untargeted /loser command now results in " calls everyone a loser."
  • Faction: Faction invitation feedback has been improved.
  • Faction: Crew promotion now works correctly.
  • Installer: Many updates have been made to the installer.
  • Marketplace: Icons have been reviewed and updated.
  • Marketplace: Sellers are no longer limited to 40 items listed at a time.
  • Marketplace: Searching and sorting have been improved.
  • Richworld: Bluepill NPCs now use moods.
  • Word Filter: Character name filtering has been adjusted.

 

Combat System

  • Interlock: Tactic values have been adjusted.
  • Interlock: Queued Block tactics no longer give an Inner Strength boost if the enemy is defeated before the tactic is used.
  • Interlock: Vulnerability icons now blink a few times when they first appear.
  • Interlock: Dead bodies no longer rotate after Interlock combat.

 

Inventory Systems

  • Inventory: Attempting to purchase an item from a vendor with a full Inventory no longer results in the purchase confirmation message.
  • Inventory: Right clicking on equiped inventory items now brings up the radial menu.
  • Inventory_Item: Many clothing texture and clipping issues have been resolved.
  • Inventory_Item: Clothing items with incorrect names have been renamed.
  • Inventory_Item: All items that can be bought or sold at a Vendor now have $Information values.
  • Inventory_item: Equipped items that break during combat will disappear if your Inventory is full.
  • Inventory_Item: Items that can't be sold at a Vendor also can't be appraised.
  • Inventory_Item: Item prices have been reviewed and updated.
  • Inventory_Item: Compiling item costs are now the same in the Loading Area and The Matrix.
  • Inventory_Item: Antibiotic (Negative Condition Sweep effect) and Health Boost (Boost Max Health effect) consumables have been added.
  • Inventory_Item: Consumables are now only available by Coding them.
  • Inventory_Item: Vendors now sell items appropriate to the level of the areas they are in.
  • Inventory_Item: Item complexities have been reviewed and updated.
  • Inventory_Item: Holy water now only affects the Succubus NPC.
  • Inventory_Item: Effect from Health Pill 1.0 has been increased.
  • Inventory_Item: Item descriptions have been reviewed and updated.

 

Game Launcher

  • Launcher: Tool tips for launcher buttons have been added.
  • Launcher: Bug preventing a character directory from being deleted when the character is has been fixed.
  • Launcher: Patch notes remain in the launcher window after the patch completes.
  • Launcher: Default response for character deletion confirmation is now "No".

 

Map System

  • Map: Map legend has been reviewed and updated.
  • Map: Flags a player has added to the map can now be removed by right clicking the flag and selecting Remove flag.
  • Map: Toggling Waypoints on or off from the map no longer affects player-created flags.
  • Map: Location maps have been reviewed and updated.
  • Map: Many neighborhood contact mapping bugs have been fixed.

 

Mission System Updates and Changes

  • Mission: Players now receive feedback if a mission is unavailable in the current area.
  • Mission: Bug causing incorrect contact information to appear in the Mission window has been fixed.
  • Mission: NPCs with missing textures have been fixed.
  • Mission: All mission text has been reviewed, updated, and edited.
  • Mission: Incorrectly positioned Contact waypoints have been fixed.
  • Mission: NPCs unable to complete mission objectives have been fixed.
  • Mission: Gangs now scale to player level during neighborhood missions.
  • Mission: Mission objects have been reviewed and updated.
  • Mission: Team members must be within 80m of each other to share XP from that teammate's kill.
  • Mission: Team members who don't enter a mission area don't get XP for that mission phase.
  • Mission: Assassins now drop Skull Coin Collector tokens.
  • Mission: Many bugs preventing missions from being completed have been fixed.
  • Mission: Older neighborhood contact mission have been reviewed and updated.
  • Mission: Bug causing mission objectives to change after a phase is complete has been fixed.
  • Mission: Mission ambushes now spawn the correct NPCs.
  • Mission: Missions have been reviewed and rebalanced.
  • Mission: Issues with Flutter Away, Little Bird mission have been fixed.
  • Mission: All organization seduction missions have been updated.
  • Mission: Storyline missions have been updated.
  • Mission: Mission team invitation process has been improved.
  • Mission: Mission door effect has been updated.
  • Mission: Many mission-follower issues have been fixed.

 

User Interface and Tutorial Changes

  • Tutorial: Objectives are now displayed and checked off as they are completed.
  • Tutorial: Bob now has more health.
  • Tutorial: Tutorial objectives and text have been reviewed and updated.
  • UI: Tool tips have been reviewed, edited, and updated.
  • UI: UI text has been reviewed, edited, and updated.
  • UI: Missing tool tips added to NPCs.
  • UI: The upgrade buffer tooltip now updates when the character levels.
  • UI: Mouse tracking has been improved for Loading Area dropdowns.
  • UI: Mission goal text is now displayed correctly when it takes more than one line.
  • UI: Mission Panel has been reviewed and updated.
  • UI: Hostile NPCs no longer display as "Friendly" in the target panel when they're killed.
  • UI: Waypoints are now cleared correctly by the /clearwaypoints command.
  • UI: Text displayed when entering a new neighborhood has been updated.
  • UI: Item purity is now displayed as three dots.
  • UI: Chevrons are now displayed in the targeting window to denote NPC difficulty level.
  • UI: Chat UI has been updated.
  • UI: Level Up button on Status panel is now Upgrade.
  • UI: Character creation has been polished.
  • UI: Camera control settings have been added to the Options pane.
  • UI: Character generation UI has been tweaked.
  • UI: Mission panel has been reviewed and updated.
  • UI: Mouse sensitivity can now be set via the Options panel.
  • UI: Cursor speed has been added to the Advanced Key Bindings panel.
  • UI: Drop down sorting on the Code Archive now works.
  • UI: All user interface elements have been reviewed and updated.

 

Art and Animation Changes

  • 2D_Art: Incorrect lines in the Ability Tree map have been fixed.
  • 2D_Art: Many interior details were updated and improved.
  • 2D_Art: Skyscraper clubs have been added and updated.
  • 2D_Art: Vendors now show as "V" icons on the map.
  • 2D_Art: More missing textures have been replaced with real textures.
  • 2D_Art: Hel club received some updates.
  • 3D_Model: Item textures have been reviewed and updated.
  • 3D_Model: Character textures have been reviewed and updated.
  • 3D_Model: Many emote clipping issues have been resolved.
  • 3D_Model: Mouseover item models have been reviewed and updated.
  • 3D_Model: NPC textures have been reviewed and updated.
  • 3D_Model: Turning animations with the Lupine Disguise tool have been fixed.
  • 3D_Model: NPC Contact models have been reviewed and updated where necessary.
  • 3D_Model: New club NPCs and objects have been added.
  • 3D_Model: Club Vendor NPCs have been updated.
  • 3D_Model: Signs added for skyscraper clubs.
  • 3D_Model: Invisible Rogers Way hideout NPCs have been fixed.
  • Animation: NPC characters no longer fall over twice when killed.
  • Animation: NPC animations have been reviewed and updated.
  • Animation: New NPC animations have been added.
  • Animation: PC animations have been reviewed and updated.
  • Animation: New PC animations have been added
  • Camera: Camera configuration has been reviewed and updated.
  • Visibility: Missing prop textures have been replaced with real textures.
  • Visual_Effects: Many new visual effects have been added.
  • Visual_Effects: Visual effects have been reviewed and updated

 

Music and Sound Changes

  • Music: Introduction music no longer covers Morpheus' initial dialogue.
  • Sound_Effects: Ability sounds have been reviewed and updated.
  • Sound_Effects: Ambient sound has been added to the Tutorial.

 

World Changes

  • World_Indoors: Some collision and clipping issues have been fixed.
  • World_Indoors: Some incorrect textures have been replaced.
  • World_Indoors: Indoor props have been reviewed and updated.
  • World_Indoors: Some lighting issues have been fixed.
  • World_Indoors: More unique club interiors and effects have been added.
  • World_Indoors: Bluepill NPC models have been updated.
  • World_Indoors: Floors have been reviewed and updated.
  • World_Indoors: Many building-specific textures have been updated.
  • World_Indoors: Many new interior props have been added.
  • World_Indoors: Club interior has been added to The Vault building.
  • World_Indoors: Clubs received an optimization pass.
  • World_Indoors: Many clubs have been reviewed and updated.
  • World_Indoors: Many construction worker NPCs have been replaced (not with other Village People models).
  • World_Indoors: Clubs added to the International District and Downtown.
