Beta Player Spotlight: ZestyO!

This week, the Beta Player spotlight falls on ZestyO. We made this decision based on player submitted nominations, and his support of new members of The Matrix Online community. Folks who nominated ZestyO had this to say:

"ZestyO is awesome, he is always helping me out in game if I'm stuck on a mission, gives me free info, and he is even sending me a real life birthday present!"

We had a chance to catch up with ZestyO for a Q&A session; here is what he had to say:

Q:

How long have you been beta testing for The Matrix Online?

A:

I was selected to take part in the beta testing of The Matrix Online back in October '04. Back then, there weren't as many redpills as today. I have been constantly impressed with each improvement made, especially on the performance side. It used to be an uphill struggle to get anywhere back then, now it is so much smoother. Even loading times between hardlines has shrunk dramatically.

Q:

What's been the most enjoyable aspect of being a beta tester for The Matrix Online?

A:

The community! I have been a part of it since November 2003. I have seen it grow from a small group to what it is today. I have made many friends throughout my time here.

Q:

What's your advice to people on getting involved in the community?

A:

Make yourself known. Post on the forums; go on IRC and other chat systems. Do not be scared of joining in or sharing your ideas. Holding in game events is always a good idea. The more original the better!

Q:

Any thought for folks who are planning events for the community at large?

A:

Make sure everyone knows about it. Pimp your event on every MxO forum and chat room you can find. Of course, don't do it so much that it becomes as annoying as spam. If you head over to the Radio Free Zion IRC channel (details on Radio Free Zion) and PM the DJ on air, he or she will make sure your event is mentioned on air, and even added to the events calendar.

Q:

Is there a feature of The Matrix Online that you would consider your favorite, or most exciting?

A:

The ability system. The chance to completely change the role of your character at a whim. This is a great feature that has been a main selling point to me. You can run a few missions being the guy on the front line of your mission team, and then swap abilities with a few clicks of the mouse and become a healer. Not being restricted to one class is something many players will appreciate.

Q:

How does The Matrix Online differ from some of the other MMO titles you have seen?

A:

In no other MMO do you truly have the freedom to go where you want, and do what you want. You can go in any building you see, you can even jump up most of them. The feeling as if you are in a living, breathing city and a system whose rules can really be broken. It is a faithful recreation of the Matrix experience, complete with locations from the movies.

We'd like to thank ZestyO for taking time to chat with us, and on behalf of the entire team of The Matrix Online, congratulations!
