News: Beta Player of the Week: Iceberg!

Announcing the Beta Player of the Week: Iceberg!

Iceberg was selected as this week’s Beta Player of the Week for many reasons, but mainly because of his consistent ability to provide petitions of the highest quality. He has a true commitment to his role as a beta player, and his work is very much appreciated by all members of The Matrix Online team.

Iceberg is well known in our offices because out of all our beta players, he has held the #1 spot for petition submissions of the highest quality. We had a chance to ask Iceberg some questions, and here's what he had to say:

Q:

How long have you been beta testing for The Matrix Online?

A:

I was contacted to join beta back in October of 2004.

Q:

Do you have any advice on submitting high quality petitions?

A:

Many of the beta testers I talk to will say that the more information you include, the better, and I agree. For my petitions, I like to have the map up and the system screen enlarged. This allows me to easily access the information of my /whereami and /loc text that shows when you type the /ccr command. This provides much of the information you need to communicate. Another thing I like to do is to make sure I have tested the bug to its fullest. Being able to reproduce the bug in question is an important step to take before submitting a petition.

Q:

What has been the most enjoyable aspect of being a beta tester for The Matrix Online?

A:

There is so much I enjoy about The Matrix Online, that I could write a book about it. First off, the community events are very enjoyable. Each event is always different from the others, from dueling to fashion shows, and auctions to holiday parties. If someone thinks of a fun event to do, the next week someone else has thought of something different to do.

Even the Dev team realizes how much of a difference the community makes. The game has changed drastically because of how great the community is. Last but not least is the support team. The Game Masters have always taken the time to answer my petitions with personal responses. I have even been visited in-game by the Game Master when they were after more input on a bug I've located. They are always friendly, respectful, and are by far the best support team i have encountered thus far. I also enjoy listening to RFZ during Events.

Q:

Is there a feature in the game that you would consider your favorite, or most exciting?

A:

I don't know if it's a feature, but for me it is the immersion I feel once in-game. The game imitates the movies so well, with the overall look and atmosphere of the world. If I were to pick one thing about the game I really enjoy, I would have to say it is the sky. In other games, their sky was just a back drop, or a picture. In The Matrix Online, the sky is cloud filled and moving. It is always changing colors and speeds. When the 7th day sky is filled with Sati's gift, I am just in awe at its majesty.

Q:

How does The Matrix Online differ from some of the other MMO titles you've seen?

A:

I love that it strays from the normal hack and slash worlds of magic and elves. The real world look and feel is what I would consider the key element to The Matrix Online.

The Matrix Online Community Team would like to thank Iceberg for all his hard work, he has truly been an integral part of The Matrix Online beta test!
