The Matrix Online: Patch Version 7.3011
March 9, 2005

These are the newest changes and enhancements to The Matrix Online. Here you'll find a list of game balance changes, bug fixes, and many new additions to the Live version of the Beta Test. This patch will update The Matrix Online client to 7.3011.

Ability and Discipline System

Engage Foes 1.0 now affects all enemies within 6m of the target.
Bug allowing simulacra to be created without having the Ability equipped has been fixed.
Siphon Data Node now works.
Ability effects have been reviewed and polished.
Area of effect attacks have been rebalanced for use during Interlock combat.
Repair and Upgrade now gives an Inner Strength regeneration bonus rather than IS cost reductions.
Trauma Surgeon now gives a bonus to Interlock evasion instead of Inner Strength cost reductions.
Concealment now works correctly.
Code Freeze Abilities are now on a family timer.
Smoke Bomb now only applies the Invisibility effect after the first NPC in a group is blinded.
Ghost Strike now deals a neutral damage type, not stealth damage.
Auto-discovery of code structures is now based on the higher of your Write Code or appropriate Maker Ability levels.
Coding rolls are now based on the higher of your Write Code or appropriate Maker Ability levels.
Minor Repairs now works.
The Sneak effect now ends when a character takes damage.
Combat Aura 1.0 and 2.0 no longer stack.
Combat Aura 2.0 now costs 30 Inner Strength per second and has a 15-second cooldown timer.
Combat Training now grants +5 to combat tactics and a 120-point maximum health boost.
Bug causing the Death Effect to grant constant bonuses to Attributes has been fixed.
Decompile cooldown timer is now 10 seconds.
Freeze System's mez effect now breaks when the target receives damage.
Reason Attribute bonuses to Coding skills have been adjusted.
Cap on Coding skills have been removed. (Skills are the character statistics that include all bonuses and penalties, not the Abilities themselves.)
Write Code now caps at level 15.
Maker Ability bonuses are now correctly applied to Coding attempts.
Cryptography has been disabled until full implementation in the future.
Combat Aura Abilities now have cooldown timers.

Artificial Intelligence Systems

Simulacra no longer continue running if commanded to attack during a duel and the duel is canceled.
Exile gang members now have to detect Sneaking characters before attacking them.
NPC animations have been polished.
Gang behavior while determining to attack or evade has been improved.
More adjustments have been made to NPC behavior when deciding whether to attack or evade.

Player and Non-Player Characters

Exile gang members no longer show up as "Some Person."
Exile gang behavior has been tweaked.
New NPCs have been added.
Bug causing problems when a member leaves a large faction has been fixed.
Some errors with character-name use on missions have been fixed.
Lucero Exile hideout gangs are now using the correct character sheets.
Some missing NPC character sheets have been added.

Game Balancing and Performance

Server and client stability have been improved.
Players now only see the loot effect when they are able to Search the object themselves.
Force Enhancer now grants a 0.4 tactics points per level bonus and has a 30-second duration.
Health Pills are now on a family timer.
Abilities in the Sneak Attack family now have a 15-second timer.
The XP cap has been increased to 300.
Enemy XP awards have been revised.
Tutorial shoes now sell for 1 Information apiece.
XP bonuses have been added based on mission team size.

Combat Systems

NPC bodies no longer pop up after being killed.
Auto firing weapons no longer interrupts launching programs.
Combat style and weapon icons in the hotbar now reflect the style or weapon you're currently using.
Bug occasionally preventing a player from leaving Interlock has been fixed.
Players must now move within minimum range of their weapons to use free-fire attacks.
Bug causing the Interlock UI to display after jacking back in after reconstructing has been fixed.
Using the Fire selection from the radial menu on a new target now changes your target correctly.
Force Combat and Free Fire are now on separate timers.

Inventory System and Items

Weapons no longer disappear when switching between them during combat.
More item textures have been reviewed and polished.
Brooker Jackets can now be Decompiled.
Clothing dropped in the world now appear in clothing boxes.
Holy Water now affects succubi correctly.
Male version of Peck's shirt now grants a 20% Inner Strength regeneration bonus.
Health Pills now grant an immediate health point bonus, not health over time.
Enhanced items have been added that upgrade different Coding statistics.
Enhanced items that upgrade Decompiling now work correctly.
Bug causing items to only give upgrades for 3 seconds has been fixed.
Trophy placeholder items have been added.
Descriptive text has been added for firearms.
Access Node keys have been added to loot tables.
Health Pills now heal instead of cause damage.

Game Launcher

The most recent patch notes are now displayed if there is no patch.

Mission Systems and Tutorial

Tutorial instruction text was reviewed and edited.
More story missions have been added.
Mission content has been reviewed and updated.
Neighborhood contact missions have been reviewed and updated.
Team members must enter a mission area in order to receive $Information for that mission phase.
Total $Information granted on a mission team has been rebalanced.
Special XP awards have been added to allow for characters on a mission team who have completed the same mission previously.
Operator portraits have been updated.
More bugs preventing mission completion have been fixed.
Some neighborhood contact missions have been updated.
Single-phase missions now award all XP at the end of the mission.
Special item rewards have been added for storyline missions.
Character sheets for some mission NPCs have been updated.
More dialogue editing has been completed.
Players must open the vignette window (use the TV) before entering the dojo.

User Interface and In-Game Map

The Details panel now automatically closes after you move away from the target.
The mission team Seek function now reports player names correctly.
Players can now buy back items they just sold to a Vendor.
Some code structures with incorrect recipes have been fixed.
Neighborhood name FX has been polished.
Button mouseover text has been reviewed, edited, and updated.
Duel challenge pop up now states the challenger's name, character level, and primary Discipline.
Account button now points to www.thematrixonline.com/registration.
Positive and negative buttons in windows have been switched.
Log-in error messages have been reviewed and updated.
Team Find panel now displays character names, levels, main Disciplines, and whether they are in your faction.
The /release command is now /reconstruct .
Chat UI retains its previous setting after teleporting.
Players can now clear their current target by clicking away from it.
Bug causing the UI to hang when upgrading Abilities has been fixed.
Team member icons now appear on the Map panel.
All items in a Marketplace category now display in the scrolling window.

Art, Animation, and Effects

More Ability icons have been updated.
More mood animations have been reviewed and polished.
NPCs will now heal damage after a character escapes from them.
Loot effects now last until the corpse is no longer lootable.
Mood animations have been reviewed and polished.
Hyper-Jump variable animations have been added.
New NPC animations have been added.
Directional jump animations have been reviewed and polished.
Some indoor graphic problems have been resolved.
Sound effects have been reviewed and polished.
Placeholder sounds were replaced with the final versions.

Game World and RichWorld

Data Node graphics now scale in proportion to their sizes.
Collector dialogue text has been reviewed, edited, and updated.
Some invalid NPC spawns have been fixed.
More clipping and invisible wall issues have been resolved.
Bug causing neighborhood names to display incorrectly has been fixed.
Access Nodes now require keys specific to each node to activate them.
New NPCs have been added in preparation for launch.
Vendors and Collectors now work correctly.
Some RichWorld clipping issues have been fixed.
Driver of the green van in South Vauxton has been told to drive on the wheels, not the roof.

Other

Bug causing a crash while using the mouse to look around has been fixed.
/logstop now stops chat logging.
Maximum distance players will receive text about another player killing an NPC has been shortened.
New dialog has been added for many NPCs.
Reserved word list has been reviewed and updated: "the" is no longer allowed in any form. (Just kidding.)
