News: Beta Player of the Week: Meduna

Announcing the Beta Player of the Week: Meduna!

Congratulations to Meduna, Our Beta player of the week! Meduna receives this honor in recognition of her contributions to the community through event planning and involvement. Meduna works hard on behalf of The Matrix Online community, and for that, we salute her! We caught up with Meduna for a Q&A session, and here's what she had to say:

Q:

How long have you been beta testing for The Matrix Online?

A:

I've been in beta for only a few months now since the FilePlanet giveaway, and I've seen this game change and grow in so many unique ways. This is not limited to just the game itself but the community as a whole as well as the interaction and attitudes that exchanges between players. I have also had the privilege to be fortunate enough to aid the community and be part of the growth that has taken place. I have done my best trying to help organize in game events and participate in them myself.

Q:

What is your advice to beta testers on getting involved in community events?

A:

My best advice would be to get involved and have a good time. Take time to talk to everyone, and get to know the person behind the RSI. The people that have arranged these events put a lot of time and effort to make sure everyone enjoys the entertainment as much as possible. They want each person that attends to have a good time, and what better way to show your appreciation then getting involved. A good way to do that is by walking up to the host and actually giving them a hug, something I have done countless times. The community itself, in my opinion, is a fair, loving and open one. They are a tight knit bunch that does not tolerate insulting behavior others. If someone wants to be involved in events, they always be courteous to everyone they interact with. I would also recommend that they try to stay in contact with the people you meet as you never know when the next spur of the moment event may occur. One of the most important suggestions I could make is tuning into RFZ as those guys know how to throw parties.

Q:

What has been the most enjoyable aspect of being a beta tester for The Matrix Online?

A:

Well I would have to once again say this community. I know I go on about it a lot but it is by far the best one I have experienced in my history of playing an MMO.

It's this very thing that encompasses many of the aspects that this game offers. The events, the way players treat one another, and how easy it is to receive help. This game is more of a MMORPG then any other I know simply because most single player games have an built-in reputation system.

This game has an actual reputation system within the community itself and that in my opinion makes it stand way above the crowd as it just shows how much of a tight group we have here. I mean in how many other games do you witness events take place or radio stations created and dedicated to broadcasting news coverage and music to its participants. This is to not mention the aspect of factions within the game, which introduces itself to a new level of the reputation system that I touched on earlier. I have witnessed this system in affect many times before. Factions have folded simply due to the negative behavior that they demonstrated in public. This community has taken a stand against those kinds of actions as a whole.

Q:

Is there a feature of The Matrix Online that you would consider your favorite, or most exciting?

A:

Well the mood and emote systems are amazing and I absolutely love them, it allows you to demonstrate how you really are feeling. It reflects in how you act towards another person, which once again helps the community stay close together. This helps everyone get a better understanding of who you are as a person or if you are role-playing, then the personality you are playing. I especially enjoy the two-person interaction system, as I have not seen many MMOs incorporate a system that allows you to directly interact with the other player's character to this extent. A great example would be going up to a host of an event and giving them a hug and they would actually hug you back as well. I hope to see more two-person emotes as the game grows larger.

I could probably sit here and say, "Well, it's not just a single feature but the entire game I love" but you made me pick one so that's my choice.

Q:

How does The Matrix Online differ from some of the other MMO titles you have seen?

A:

If you can't tell from my answers above then I must say that it differs from other MMOs in every way possible. This starts with the faction system requiring multiple ships and crews; also you have a coder system that requires more then just basic ingredients to make items. Also, let's not forget the in game events. I have witnessed events held where practically everyone from the community shows up to take part. That in itself makes the game constantly ever changing so that it holds your interests well. Lastly, Radio Free Zion makes this game have more appeal by making sure everyone keeps working together on events, giving away prizes and broadcasting that awesome music. I have to say major thumbs up to the people at RFZ for keeping the station alive through a lot of trouble and making sure we all have a good time, 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

And with that, the Community Team would like to thank Meduna for taking time out of her busy schedule to answer our questions. On behalf of the entire team here at The Matrix Online, congratulations Meduna!
